Our Democracy Protection Program works to defend our communities from the growing threat of the anti-democratic movement.
When America’s policies and actions no longer match its values, when hate and bigotry are normalized, and when our democratic processes are threatened, our global legitimacy is undermined along with our ability to protect the most vulnerable people.
Anti-democratic ideology is increasingly visible in the United States. The movement behind it draws from historic anti-democratic rhetoric and tactics and deploys mainstream actors and influencers to normalize and institutionalize hate, bigotry, and anti-democratic norms and values.
Mitigating this existential threat to our democracy requires an approach that exposes and undermines the mainstream networks and tactics that support this anti-democratic movement.
Our Democracy Protection Program leverages our organization’s established work on refugee and immigration issues, our unique veterans coalition, and tools from our Innovation Lab.
Addressing the rise of the anti-democratic movement is an enormous undertaking and we are eager to partner in pushing back against the movement, defending democracy, and protecting human rights.
