Emerging Leaders Advisory Board

Human Rights First knows that defending human rights is a multigenerational mission. It is imperative to integrate talented young professionals at all levels of the organization, applying fresh ideas to hold oppressors accountable and free people from injustice.

The Emerging Leaders Advisory Board (ELAB) is Human Rights First’s eyes and ears on the future. ELAB board members, aged 20-39, are activists, organizers, lawyers, creatives, veterans, and scholars, each passionately promoting human rights today while poised to confront the oppressors of tomorrow. ELAB helps HRF influence the evolving zeitgeist, amplifies its impact, and ensures its longevity.

ELAB’s mission is to advance Human Rights First’s work by mobilizing the next generation of human rights advocates and contributing fresh perspectives to the organization and its initiatives.

ELAB members are dedicated to protecting vulnerable populations and advancing the rule of law in the United States and abroad. Through its five committees (Fundraising, D.E.I., Policy, Communications, and Operations), ELAB organizes human rights programming, advises on policy initiatives, and connects young professionals to educational and volunteer opportunities in the human rights space.
