Jamie Schafer Honored with Global Accountability Award
NEW YORK — Human Rights First is pleased to announce today that Jamie Schafer will be honored with the 2022 Global Accountability Guardian Award at the organization’s annual awards celebration on October 24 in New York City.
Human Rights First initiated the Global Accountability Guardian Award in 2021 to honor passionate and dedicated champions of human rights who work relentlessly to hold accountable human rights abusers worldwide.
The organization honors Schafer’s long-standing commitment to fighting corruption through her anti-money laundering and anti-corruption work, as well as her efforts to promote accountability through awareness and compliance with U.S. targeted sanctions. For many years, she has been an integral advisor to Human Rights First’s accountability team.
“It has truly been my honor to support Human Rights First’s incredibly important – and impactful beyond precedent – work in this area,” said Jamie Schafer.
Jamie Schafer is a partner at the law firm Perkins Coie, where she represents both corporations and individuals in complex U.S. and cross-border criminal and regulatory matters. These include issues involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), federal securities and anti-money laundering laws and regulations, and embargoes administered by the U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Schafer’s experience includes investigations, voluntary disclosures, and settlement negotiations before numerous enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), U.S. Department of State, OFAC, and the World Bank’s Integrity Vice Presidency, as well as the design and implementation of ethics and compliance programs.
