Randy Bregman to be Awarded First Global Accountability Guardian Award
WASHINGTON – Today, Randy Bregman was announced as the first recipient of Human Rights First’s new Global Accountability Guardian award. The organization honors Bregman’s career-long commitment to fighting corruption through compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, his leadership on using targeted sanctions to hold accountable human rights abusers and corrupt actors, and his efforts to promote the protection of human rights as a central pillar of Dentons’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) program. In addition to his work on accountability, Bregman also works with Human Rights First’s asylum team as a pro bono attorney on individual asylum cases.

Human Rights First initiated the Global Accountability Guardian Award to honor passionate and dedicated champions of human rights who work relentlessly to hold accountable human rights abusers around the world.
“It is a great honor for my work to be recognized by Human Rights First, but it is an equally important honor to work side by side with the advocates, attorneys, and other allies who are using targeted sanctions and other tools to make a difference in the human rights of people on a global scale,” said Bregman.
Randy Bregman is senior counsel at Dentons, where he serves as a member of Dentons’ Federal Regulation and Compliance practice. He has focused his practice on the Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union region for more than 30 years and has significant experience in corporate, policy and trade matters. He is an expert on the impact of the Global Magnitsky Act sanctions on US and foreign businesses and has applied that expertise to a range of pro bono matters including holding human rights abusers accountable and representing asylum seekers.

Bregman will be presented the Global Accountability Guardian Award at the 2021 Human Rights First Virtual Awards Celebration on Thursday, October 21, 2021, and will be honored at that event with a video that illustrates his work with Human Rights First on global accountability.
