Recent efforts to militarize our justice system and reimpose the use of torture during interrogation are ill advised. They can only further erode the safety of American citizens. In addition, this plan rejects the best advice of U.S. military and intelligence professionals.
The National Defense Authorization Act, being considered on the Senate floor this week, unfortunately, continues this trend of militarizing our judiciary by making the military the default institution for detaining and trying terrorists.
