Neil Hicks Response to State of the Union Address

Washington, DC –– Tonight, following President Obama’s State of the Union address, Human Rights First issued the following statement: “The administration must make good on the President’s pledge to stand up for the rights and dignity of all by making clear that it supports a clear transition from military authoritarianism to democratic civilian rule in Egypt while continuing to advocate firmly for better protections for basic rights and freedoms for all in a new democratic Egypt. “As the President notes, America is a global leader and it should assert its commitment to universal principles universally, including in Bahrain.”
