Human Rights First Congratulates New Ambassador to India Richard Verma

Washington, D.C. – Human Rights First today welcomed the appointment of Richard Verma as U.S. ambassador to India. Verma, who has served on the board of directors at Human Rights First since 2011, was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate today following his nomination by President Obama in September.

“We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Rich as he begins his next chapter as ambassador to India,” said Human Rights First’s President and CEO Elisa Massimino. “Rich has been a tireless advocate for U.S. policy that promotes human rights around the world, and we are proud to have him representing the United States in this key position.”
