Sen. McCain, Coons Introduce Bipartisan Dreamer Bill

Washington, D.C.—Human Rights First today urged senators to support the Uniting and Securing America (USA) Act, introduced by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Chris Coons (D-DE), which would provide legal protection for Dreamers and increase border security without erecting further barriers to the U.S. asylum and refugee systems.

“While the White House continues to peddle its hardline, extremist immigration positions, the USA Act is a bipartisan, practical solution to provide legal protection for Dreamers,” said Human Rights First’s Jennifer Quigley. “Rather than pit vulnerable groups of individuals against each other, Senators McCain and Coons have provided a realistic framework that recognizes that the United States is made stronger by immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees. We urge all senators to get behind this compromise legislation.”
