Acknowledgments & Affirmations

Human Rights First acknowledges the existence of systemic and structural biases and believes it is necessary to be strategic and intentional in pursuing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of governance, operations, and programming. This includes:

  • Holding ourselves accountable, because acknowledging and challenging our inequities and working in partnership is how we will make change happen.
  • Striving to consider the people, places, and cultures that might be missing from our work and looking for opportunities to increase inclusivity in all the work we do.
  • Acknowledging and dismantling any inequities within our policies, systems, programs, and services.

To provide informed, authentic leadership for human rights, we strive to:

  • Commit time and resources to expand more diverse leadership within our board of directors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Dedicate efforts to enriching DEIA consciousness throughout our interactions.
  • Support adoption of best practices to create a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible work experience for colleagues and external partners.
