U.S. Needs a Real Process to Expedite the Most Vulnerable Refugee Cases

An article in the Nation magazine highlights the sad plight of Iraqi women who have fled their country to Syria and Jordan, only to find themselves forced into prostitution to survive and support their families.

Human Rights First has been pushing for a formalized expedited processing system for at-risk refugees like these very women – who face danger in their countries of first asylum and desperately need a way out. We outlined suggestions to the U.S. government in recent testimony submitted to the U.S. Helsinki Commission.
