Human Rights First’s Response to President Biden’s Remarks on Afghanistan

Human Rights First’s President and CEO Michael Breen responded to President Biden’s remarks on the end of the U.S. war in Afghanistan:

“The president has made clear, U.S. military’s involvement in Afghanistan is over. But the human rights crisis is far from over for Afghans. Human Rights First and our allies will do everything we can to see that Afghans’ efforts to reach safety are as well-supported, and successful as possible.

“When these Afghans arrive in the United States, we will ensure that they are welcomed to the country they counted on. With our partners in the veterans’ community, refugee resettlement organizations, humanitarian organizations, and others in civil society, we will work to make sure they see the best of America, not xenophobia and hate.”
