Human Rights First Partners with Thomson Reuters Foundation for Annual Women’s Rights Conference

New York City – Human Rights First today announced a partnership with the Thomson Reuters Foundation for the Trust Women Conference to be held in London on November 18-19. The Trust Women Conference will bring together global corporations, lawyers, and pioneers in the field of women’s rights to forge tangible commitments to empower women around the world and develop solutions to human rights problems.

This year’s conference agenda will include discussions on a wide range of human rights issues from women’s economic empowerment to modern slavery in the supply chain and child labor. Speakers include Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus; Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance; U.S. State Department Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons Luis CdeBaca;  Landesa Center for Women’s Land Rights Director Elisa Scalise; Gates Foundation Deputy Director Liz Kellison and many other influential leaders.

Delegates to the annual conference take action to empower women to know and defend their rights. During the 2013 conference, 32 actions were taken in the fields of slavery, rehabilitation of survivors, forced sterilization and gender-based violence.
