Human Rights First Marks 16th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks

Washington, D.C. – Today Human Rights First issued the following statement marking the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, that resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people:

“On this anniversary, we remember the victims of the vicious terrorist attacks on 9/11 and the brave men and women we have lost in the line of duty protecting our nation since that day. We express our condolences to their families and loved ones, and we recommit ourselves to honoring the victims’ memory and sacrifice by upholding our nation’s ideals and working to reclaim the United States’ role as a world leader in the struggle for human rights.

“In times of great challenge, we must remember that respect for human rights is the foundation of freedom, peace, and security. We must resist those who would seek to divide us by appealing to our baser instincts, and denounce hatred and extremism in all its forms.”
