Human Rights First Deplores U.S. Attacks Against Iran

Human Rights First deplores U.S. attacks against Iran, carried out alongside Israel, without authorization from Congress or the United Nations Security Council. This unlawful action escalates conflict and endangers U.S interests, service members, and civilians across the region. Iran’s government has committed horrific human rights abuses against its people, but regime change imposed by military force is illegal and needlessly puts American and Iranian lives at risk. Human rights have nothing to do with this war of choice by a U.S. administration that has forcibly returned Iranians to face harm in Iran, detained Iranian religious minorities in ICE custody at home, and now asks Americans to absorb the financial costs of escalation.
