Federal Courts Ready for Boston Terrorism Case

Washington, D.C. – In response to reports that the Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will face federal charges,  Human Rights First’s Daphne Eviatar issued the following statement:

“President Obama clearly made the right decision in committing to try Tsarnaev in a U.S. federal court. To attempt to treat him as an enemy combatant would be nonsensical. Federal courts have successfully and safely prosecuted nearly 500 terrorism cases since 9/11 and yielded huge amounts of critical intelligence. The Guantanamo military commissions, on the other hand, have been a disaster. America deserves the kind of justice that our federal courts can deliver.”
