Elisa Massimino Reflects on the Life and Work of Todd Lang

Washington, D.C. –Human Rights First mourns the death of board of directors member Todd Lang, who passed away Tuesday. Human Rights First President and CEO Elisa Massimino issued the following statement:

“Todd was a powerhouse lawyer, who used his legal prowess and stellar reputation to encourage the legal community to take an active role in advancing human rights and the rule of law. For three decades he gave of his time and expertise to guide Human Rights First as an active and energetic member of the board. We were extremely fortunate to have the benefit of Todd’s keen intellect, financial acumen, and wise counsel for so many years. All of us who knew him share a profound loss in his passing. I will miss his ideas, encouragement, and unwavering enthusiasm for the work we were able to accomplish together.”

Lang served on the Human Rights First Board of Directors for 30 years and was a member of the organization’s Executive Committee, chaired the Audit Committee, and served on the Finance Committee. Lang was a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, managing the firm until 1989 during a time of tremendous growth, and helped foster the firm’s commitment to the greater community that remains a hallmark of the firm today.
