DNC Platform Drafting Committee Working to End Torture

On Friday, retired generals and admirals sent a letter to the Republican and Democratic Platform Committees calling for the inclusion of a plank in both party platforms rejecting the use of torture in the treatment of prisoners.

This past weekend, the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee met in Cleveland and included the crucial three-word-line, “We reject torture,” in the platform draft. Read more about the committee meeting here.

Will the Republicans join the Democrats in taking this step to end torture? We’ll find out at the end of August when the Republicans decide on their platform language.
