Autocratic leaders are increasingly gaining power and weakening human rights around the world. To counter this trend, we’re using our expertise and influence in government to uncover abuses, hold institutions accountable, and make sure people across continents and circumstances can live without fear of oppression.
Promoting Accountability
Far too often, the powerful individuals and institutions responsible for abuse and corruption in a given country face little or no consequence for their actions. Civil society can advocate to change that.
Human rights abuses and corruption take place in every region of the world, and a growing number of countries use targeted sanctions to promote accountability for the perpetrators.
What We're Doing
Human Rights First is working with civil society partners from around the world to promote accountability for serious human rights abuses and corruption.
