Significant Relief at Last for Refugees and Asylees Mislabeled as “Terrorists”

Human Rights First welcomes the decision of Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano to exercise the discretionary authority vested in her by Congress in 2005, and again in 2007, to bring long-awaited relief to significant numbers of refugees and asylees who were already granted refugee protection in this country, but whose applications for permanent residence or reunification with their spouses and children have been “on hold” for many years.
