Recording of Human Rights First on the Ground: Updates on our Refugee Advocacy & Protection Efforts

The first two years of the Trump Administration have seen an onslaught of attacks against asylum seekers. In response, Human Rights First’s Senior Director of Refugee Protection, Eleanor Acer; Equal Justice Works Fellow, Eleni Bakst; and Vice President, Legal, Hardy Vieux held a telebriefing on Human Rights First’s efforts to protect those seeking asylum at our southern border.

Eleanor Acer oversees the organization’s advocacy research on issues relating to refugee protection, asylum, and migrants’ rights. Eleni Bakst works to protect and advance the rights of asylum seekers and refugees through legal and policy research, advocacy and impact litigation. Hardy Vieux leads and oversees the organization’s legal initiatives, including pro bono legal representation, amicus briefs, and legal outreach efforts.

We at Human Rights First believe American leadership is essential in the global struggle for human rights, so we press the U.S. government to respect human rights and the rule of law. When government officials fail, we step in to demand reform, accountability, and justice. Our mission and work are even more critical than ever before, and our work wouldn’t be possible without generous supporters like you. Please make a generous gift today.
