Human Rights First v. Wolf
Suing to Protect the Rights of Asylum Seekers
In its final days, the Trump administration published a sweeping regulation that will makes it nearly impossible for people who seek asylum in the United States to have it granted. Instead of protecting asylum seekers, the U.S. will deny asylum to refugees with valid legal claims, sending them back to persecution, torture, and possible death.
Human Rights First, with counsel at Williams & Connolly LLP, filed a federal lawsuit seeking to strike down this harmful and illegal regulation and protect the rights of refugees. Our lawsuit argues that the rule violates laws enacted by Congress — the Administrative Procedure Act and the Immigration and Nationality Act — our binding international obligations, and the U.S. Constitution.
