Other Cases Before the Court
August 2007Thirteen individuals have been indicted so far by the Special Court and eleven of these have been apprehended and transferred into the custody of the court. In addition to Charles Taylor, the accused individuals fall under the categories of alleged members of the Civil Defense Forces (CDF), Revolutionary United Front forces (RUF), and Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC). Eight of these individuals are currently before the court. The first judgment to be handed down at the Special Court was in the case of Brima, Kamara and Kanu, former members of the AFRC.
In 2003, three alleged leaders of the CDF were indicted on eight counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other serious violations of international humanitarian law. On March 5, 2004, the prosecution consolidated the indictments.
