Allena Martin is a legal assistant with Refugee Representation in the Washington, D.C. office. As a legal assistant, Allena works closely with pro bono attorneys who represent indigent asylum seekers in their claims for protection. She also helps manage the screening, intake, and case placement for our asylum seeking clients. Allena specializes in coordinating the representation of families and unaccompanied minors seeking asylum and other forms of protection in the United States.
Allena received her B.A. in International Studies from American University’s School of International Service. While at AU, Allena studied abroad in Rome and Paris, and completed several internships in the D.C. area, as well as a State Department e-internship with the United States Embassy in Madrid. Allena is also the associate director of the Refugee Assistance Program through Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, where she helps to match volunteer mentors with recently resettled refugee families in the D.C. area. Allena speaks fluent Spanish.
